Sunrise Residential and Commercial Real Estate

showimage.aspxSunrise, originally Sunrise Golf Village, is a city in central-western Broward County incorporated in 1961 by Norman Johnson. In 1960, Johnson paid $9 million for 2,650 acres of land in southwestern Broward County and was originally to be named Sunset Village.

Johnson was a developer who offered World Famous Upside-Down Houses to attract residents to the area. Johnson and F. E. Dykstra built an “upside-down house”, which was completely furnished with a carport that featured an upside-down automobile. This made news and brought a spotlight to the area, as well as shoppers interested in Sunrise real estate.
